Resources for Men in OA
You are not alone anymore! About 15% of OA members worldwide identify as male. Visit the link for resources serving the men of OA!
OA Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) Special Focus MeetingsAccording to a 2017 OA World Service survey just 1% of OA members in the United States are African-American and only 9% identify as non-white. OA’s Unity with Diversity Policy says that, “whatever problem you may have with food, you are welcome at an OA meeting, regardless of race, creed, nationality, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other trait. Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) special focus meetings provide a unique opportunity for BIPOC in OA to come together and share their experience strength and hope. They offer a safe space to talk about issues specific to communities of color that fueled the disease of compulsive overeating and how the 12 steps of OA nurture their recovery. Special focus meetings are open to all OA members. Contact Heather W at 360-649-5021 for more information.
The Washington DC Metro Area Intergroup offers a BIPOC meeting on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time. Join the meeting on Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83565554465?pwd=TDZpYUxFMXB5UHVzNjJOcExlM1hyZz09, Meeting ID: 835 6555 4465, Passcode: 084251.
